POSITION DETAILS

Lehman Stages operating through the Lehman College Auxiliary Enterprise Corporation is a self-funded professional arts organization that manages and develops specific performance and event facilities. Facilities forming Lehman Stages include the 500-seat Lovinger Theatre, the Black Box/Studio Theatre, the Student Experimental (S.E.T.) Theatre and Dance Lab. Lehman Stages provides performance and conference space for arts, civic and government organizations throughout New York City and beyond. Lehman Stages creates original cultural programming and initiatives that benefit the students at Lehman College and the Bronx community and also provides comprehensive production services to our vital Music, Multimedia, Theatre and Dance Department here at Lehman.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director and with wide latitude for independent judgement and initiative, the Performing Arts Center Director will undetake specific responsibilities, which include:

• Develops and implements all plans for space utilization in all rehearsal and performance spaces.
• Coordinates scheduling of Lehman Stages in conjunction with the Director of the Theatre and Dance Program for College events in as well as outside bookings to further Community outreach.
• Manages all technical and administrative staff of Lehman Stages facilities, including house staff, stage managers, administrative assistants
• Responsible for the environmental elements of all spaces to include all cleaning and maintenance. Oversees staff of other departments when performing services for the performance and rehearsal spaces. Oversees financial accounts and payroll, including the Lehman Stages staff and crews
• Responsible for the budget for the spaces and for all procurement of equipment and other products.
• Responsible for all Public Relations and marketing products.
• Handling of all Lehman Stages correspondence
• On-sight supervision of all events that are open to public
• Marketing, grant writing, and fundraising for Lehman Stages
• Additional tasks as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

• Works with senior management to create a vision and strategy for performing arts
• Brings artistic vision to the organization by planning and presenting innovative and successful programming
• Develops and implements creative and cost-effective marketing plans to attract both program sponsors and audiences
• Manages revenue targets and financial plans, reporting on financial operations consistent with best practices in the not-for-profit/public sectors
• Provides programming to fulfill the community service mission of the College or Unit
• Manages relationships between the center and College academic and administrative departments
• Cultivates relationships with external customers
• Hires, trains, and manages Center staff

Salary commensurate with education and experience, $136,546 -$141,643
