Job Overview

Evaluate quotations and provide cost estimates to forge, heat treat, test, machine and inspected large, forged components. Evaluate orders and develop forge plans to facilitate the production of large, forged components. Contribute to the efficient functioning of manufacturing operations by developing and providing technical knowledge used to make decisions, improve processes, reduce costs, and create products recognized for highest quality.

Duties

  • Review inquiry documents for new orders.
  • Develop cost effective forging processes.
  • Provide cost estimates of manufacturing process.
  • Order ingots based on finish forging weight requirements as well as required ingot sizes to meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate ingot ordering operations with the ingot suppliers.
  • Generate and maintain work instructions and drawings for the procurement of material, forging process and processing of forgings.
  • Specify and orger various components required for customer orders.
  • Determine rework methods and costs for non-conforming product.
  • Provide cost estimates in support of sales efforts.
  • develop and coordinate outside vendor operations.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for procuring capital expenditures to fulfill manufacturing needs to improve quality, thoughput, and/or safety.
  • Review and recommend appropriate equipment repairs and/or design modifications.
  • Instructs on safe work practices and promotes safety consciousness while practicing safety procedures, enforcing policy regarding safety, and making recommendations when needed.
  • Keep abreast of new manufacturing methods/equipment/materials for use in developing new market and products opportunities as well as existing products and processes.
  • Assist with capacity planning and production scheduling to maintain customer deliveries.
  • Participate in other special projects for the department.

Qualifications

  • A 4 year bachelor's degree (BSE) or a related ingineering degree with 1-2 years of experience; or alternatively, as Associates (2-year) degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of manufacturing experience in forging, foundry, heat treatment facility.
  • Excellent reading, written, verbal, listening, and overall communication and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, charts, tables, other written instructions, and various symbols including GD&T principals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and interact with various levels of the organization.
  • Must have good problem solving, organizational, time management, conflict resolution, and planning skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, geometrical, process engineering skills
  • Operational familiarity with CAD/Cam software programs.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability.
  • Willingness to travel to customers, suppliers, and group companies.

  • Successful candidates must successfully complete a physical examination and physical with a drug screen (hair sample).
