Job Description:
Are you a driven, compassionate, and ambitious professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals seeking recovery? Our state-of-the-art Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Recovery Center in Defiance, Ohio, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support clients throughout their recovery journey and assist clinical staff in providing high-quality care.
Some weekends are required.
Individuals with criminal records are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
- Skills in verbal de-escalation, crisis intervention, and behavior management
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training

- CDCA Certification
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with client admissions, intake processing, and discharges
- Complete intake procedures within scope of practice, including conducting a search and inventory of client belongings, finances, and electronic devices, and providing specific and accurate photographic documentation of belongings.
- Familiarization with processes and procedures, accurate documentation to include obtaining client signatures on all required forms and documents throughout the length of stay
- Monitor admissions and discharge schedules and collaborate with the treatment team to ensure efficient client transitions
- Observe, document, and report client behaviors through behavioral intervention notes
- Assist in performing random room, facility, and perimeter searches as necessary and appropriate
- Promote positive behaviors and redirect negative interactions appropriately
- Provide crisis intervention and support during challenging situations
- Assist clients with daily needs and basic patient care tasks
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to support client success and maintain a structured therapeutic environment
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility
- Conduct regular safety checks
- Assist with behavior management and occasional transportation or supply runs as needed
