Estate Planning Attorney
A full-service boutique trust and estates law firm in Palm Beach County seeks an estate planning attorney. The law firm has a robust estate planning and trust administration practice. The Ideal candidate will have 5 years or more experience in estate planning. LLM preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to discuss their assets, liabilities, family dynamics (e.g., blended families, special needs dependents), and goals to develop a customized plan.
- Prepare, review, and revise essential legal documents, including wills and trusts (revocable, irrevocable, charitable, special needs), and powers of attorney.
- Beneficiary designations for retirement plans and insurance policies.
- Advise clients on strategies to minimize estate, gift, and income taxes, and employ legal mechanisms to protect assets from creditors or lawsuits.
- Represent clients during the probate process, handling court filings, settling debts and taxes, and overseeing the distribution of assets according to the decedent's wishes.
- Work with financial advisors, accountants, and insurance professionals to ensure a fully integrated plan. They also guide executors and trustees on their fiduciary duties.
- Assist business owners in creating plans for the seamless transition of ownership and management in the event of retirement, incapacitation, or death.
Qualifications
- Licensed attorney, in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- LLM preferred.
- Knowledge of income, gift and estate tax laws (preferable)
- 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law.
