Legal Aid of Arkansas is a public interest, not-for-profit, law firm dedicated to equal access to justice for low-income Arkansans. Legal Aid’s advocates provide civil legal services in housing preservation, domestic violence prevention, economic justice, and consumer protection. Legal Aid is seeking qualified applicants for an Intake and Legal Support Specialist position. These positions will be in our El Dorado, Van Buren, and West Memphis office.
Position Description
The Intake and Legal Support Specialist will:
· Screen prospective clients for program eligibility through our Helpline, online applications, and in person.
· Serve as receptionist to visitors in the office.
· Provide secretarial and administrative support for attorneys.
· Perform other administrative and outreach or community education duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Good written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
- A commitment to public interest work and the desire to assist low-income individuals.
- A high school diploma or GED, although an associate degree or higher is preferred.
- Be keyboard and technology literate.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is based on a competitive public interest salary scale, with the starting salary being $15.81 to $26.01 hourly, depending on experience, with a rate adjustment potentially available for second language skills. Benefits package includes medical, dental, paid holiday, vacation, sick leave, and retirement plan.
