Job Summary: The School Improvement Specialist plays a critical role in advancing educational outcomes and fostering a culture of continuous growth. This position emphasizes implementing best practices and evidence-based strategies, particularly for schools identified as needing improvement or those designated as Improvement Required (IR) under the state's accountability system. The Specialist is responsible for overseeing the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), coaching teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness, managing district test coordination, facilitating professional development, and collaborating with school leaders to implement impactful academic strategies. This role requires a leader with exceptional communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of educational policies, and the ability to collaborate with school principals and district leadership to drive academic success.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching:
- Provide personalized coaching and support to teachers to enhance instructional practices.
- Model effective teaching techniques and encourage peer observations to cultivate best practices.
- Assist educators in designing and implementing engaging, student-centered instruction.
- Oversee the MTSS framework to ensure student success through tiered interventions.
- Ensure MTSS practices comply with district policies and state regulations.
- Serve as the district test coordinator, overseeing the administration of state and district assessments.
- Ensure compliance with testing procedures and regulations and manage training for test administration.
- Analyze assessment data to inform instructional practices and guide improvement strategies.
- Provide support and resources to schools to maintain the integrity and efficiency of testing processes.
- Deliver targeted support to schools to enhance student achievement and school performance.
- Conduct regular campus visits to ensure schools meet Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and perform satisfactorily on STAAR/EOC assessments.
- Collaborate with the superintendent, school leaders, and educators to develop and execute comprehensive Campus Improvement Plans (CIP) or Targeted Improvement Plans (TIP).
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of improvement strategies, ensuring alignment with district and state regulations.
- Use student performance data to inform decisions and guide instructional modifications.
- Design and implement strategic interventions specific to the CSI and ESF process and adjust them as needed to address challenges.
- Act as a liaison between the district and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to ensure compliance and secure support and resources.
- Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on best practices in teaching and learning.
- Support teachers in integrating technology and innovative instructional strategies.
- Promote a collaborative learning culture through team-building activities and shared resources.
- Engage parents, community members, and partners to support school improvement efforts.
- Communicate progress and challenges effectively to staff and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Vertex and school leadership to secure resources and services aligned with the school turnaround strategy.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for teachers in applying effective instructional practices.
- Collaborate with district and Vertex teams to align school improvement initiatives with district goals.
- Provide regular updates on strategic initiatives and student performance data.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s in Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification and administrative credentials preferred.
- Proven experience in instructional coaching and school improvement.
- Three years of leadership experience at the campus and/or district level.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of systematic planning practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proven record as a highly effective teacher.
- Knowledge of the school improvement/transformation and the Effective Schools Framework preferred.
- Knowledge of current educational research and best practices.
- Ability to cultivate a positive and collaborative school culture.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment.
- Ability to instill trust
