A Water Mitigation Technician cleans, dries, and restores properties damaged by water, fire, or mold by extracting water, setting drying equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers), performing demolition of damaged materials (drywall, flooring), cleaning/sanitizing, and meticulously documenting all work with photos and moisture readings for insurance claims, all while maintaining professionalism with customers and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Water Extraction & Drying: Use specialized equipment to remove water and set up dehumidifiers and air movers for structural drying.
- Demolition & Removal: Tear out and dispose of damaged materials like drywall, carpet, and insulation.
- Cleaning & Sanitizing: Clean affected areas, contents, and perform odor control.
- Mold Remediation: Assist with containment and cleaning for mold issues.
- Documentation: Take photos, capture moisture readings (using meters), and record job progress for reports.
- Customer Service: Communicate with homeowners, showing empathy and explaining the restoration process.
- Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance: Load, unload, clean, and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls, often requiring on-call availability.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in challenging environments.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- IICRC certifications (Water Damage Restoration, Fire & Smoke Restoration) are often a plus or required for advancement.
