Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced, high-acuity 36-bed Emergency Department in Lawton, Oklahoma. The department serves approximately 59,000 patients annually and provides care to patients across the lifespan with a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions.
The ideal candidate is a confident, compassionate, and highly skilled emergency nurse who can quickly assess patient needs, prioritize care, respond effectively to critical situations, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This is a 13-week night shift assignment, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and focused assessments of patients presenting with emergent, urgent, and non-urgent conditions.
- Triage patients using evidence-based protocols and determine appropriate acuity levels.
- Provide rapid assessment, intervention, stabilization, and ongoing care for medical, surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures according to provider orders and hospital policies.
- Monitor and operate equipment including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and point-of-care testing devices.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Coordinate patient care from initial assessment through diagnostic testing, treatment, re-evaluation, and disposition.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and discharge instructions.
- Accurately and promptly document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in trauma activations, Code Blue, stroke, STEMI, rapid response, and other emergency protocols as required.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital standards.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining efficiency in a high-volume emergency environment.
QualificationsRequired
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or a valid Compact RN license.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in Emergency Department, Critical Care, or another high-acuity setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies and periods of high patient volume.
Preferred
- Emergency Department nursing experience.
- TNCC certification.
- ENPC certification.
- Experience caring for trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatric, and critically ill patients.
Work Environment
- 36-bed Emergency Department.
