Duties
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles while adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Plan routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across multiple locations.
- Willingness to be on the road up to 10 days at a time and home 4 days.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Comply with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials, following all safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before hitting the road.
- Deliver freight to customers’ locations while providing excellent customer service and ensuring proper load securement throughout transit.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Must be at least 23 years of age with a minimum of 2 years OTR driving experience.
- Applicant must be local to the Lufkin area, residing no more than 40 miles away.
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with route driving and freight delivery.
- Knowledge of various truck types, but especially refrigerated trailers and tractor-trailer operations.
- Experience operating GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, and safety procedures related to commercial trucking.
- Physical ability to load/unload cargo manually or with equipment like forklifts; manual handling skills are essential.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.

Pay: $0.40 - $0.60 per mile
