LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on-site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Alumni Coordinator is a pivotal position within our College Center, tasked with providing comprehensive, personalized support to high school scholars pursuing dual enrollment and working towards earning an Associate's Degree concurrently with their high school diploma. This role directly contributes to LEC's unwavering mission to see every child to and through college. The Alumni Coordinator will act as a dedicated guide, ensuring our scholars not only access but thrive in challenging college-level coursework, preparing them for seamless transitions to four-year institutions and beyond. The Alumni Coordinator will continue providing support to scholars “To and Through College” with continuing support of Alumni until the completion of their Baccalaureate degrees, including monthly contact, college visits, and scholarship assistance and tracking. This coordinator will be an integral part of the College Success Team, fostering key relationships with scholars and families, and collaborating closely with other members of the College Success Team and School Counselors.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

College Counseling:
  • Ensure scholars matriculate into high-quality, best-fit postsecondary programs that align with their long-term goals.
  • Provide comprehensive support for college applications, financial aid literacy, and scholarship searches.
  • Support academically strong scholars in submitting competitive early applications to selective colleges.
  • Guide all scholars toward institutions with high graduation rates to increase degree completion.
  • Ensure all scholars complete financial aid applications and secure the resources necessary for enrollment.
  • Guide scholars in developing the skills to navigate enrollment barriers after high school graduation.
  • Support seniors in completing and submitting high-quality applications to colleges using balanced wishlists developed in 11th grade.
  • Write letters of recommendation and support teachers in writing strong letters.
  • Give actionable feedback on personal statements and essays
  • Support pre-enrollment tasks such as tuition deposits, loan counseling, and transition benchmarks.

Alumni Support:
  • Provide advice and support for Alumni who are currently working on their baccalaureate degree.
  • Track progress of all Legacy Alumni after they graduate high school.
  • Assist in determining eligibility for scholarships and grants, and monitor ongoing scholarship eligibility.

School Support:
  • Push into High School Advisory classes regularly.
  • Support college and career programming, including college visits, career site visits and speakers, college and career fairs, financial aid workshops, and postsecondary workshops to educate students and parents.

Student & Family Programming:
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with scholars and families, providing clear, accessible information about the dual enrollment program, its benefits, and how they can support their scholar's college journey while respecting college student privacy (FERPA).
  • Schedule one-on-one meetings to learn about the families’ goals, needs and aspirations and introduce the Postsecondary Match and Career Exploration processes.
  • Lead College Decision Meetings with students and families to finalize postsecondary plans.
  • Lead and attend family programming on financial aid, high school success, and postsecondary planning.
  • Provide family engagement workshops related to postsecondary access and match.

Data Management & Analysis:
  • Maintain accurate records of student meetings, qualitative notes, and quantitative data.
  • Analyze academic and counseling data to inform student support plans.
  • Track and compare financial aid awards to support families in decision-making.
  • Regularly report on scholar progress to the High School Principal and Provost.

Program Enhancement & Collaboration:
  • Collaborate closely with the Provost, High School Principal, College Success Counselor, and other members of the College Success Team, to ensure seamless integration and strategic alignment of the dual enrollment program within the broader school vision.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives within the College Center to ensure all staff can perform key functions.
  • Assist in analyzing student data related to post-high school college success to identify strengths and areas for improvement in the school’s college counseling program.
  • Actively contribute ideas to grow and strengthen the post-secondary outcomes of scholars.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 3 years of experience in college counseling or student advising
  • Strong knowledge of college admissions and financial aid processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with first-generation college students
  • Proficiency in data tracking and student information systems

This role requires an individual with an unwavering commitment to our scholars' success, a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by first-generation college students, and a collaborative spirit essential for achieving our ambitious goals.

Work Schedule
This position will operate on the centralized Legacy Early College central office calendar, on the 240-day schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Occasional evenings will be required, in accordance with the school’s events calendar.

  • Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.
  • The position will require travel.
  • Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
