At ELM Management Services, on behalf of Legacy Brain and Spine, the Medical Assistant will provide clinical support and administrative assistance to providers in an effort to assist with the management of patients and clinic operations in an efficient and positive manner.

Essential Functions:
- Scheduling appointments and managing patient calendars.
- Maintaining and updating patient records and medical histories.
- Preparing exam rooms and assisting providers with procedures.
- Triaging, taking, and recording patient vital signs.
- Providing patient education for all procedures and medications.
- Answering phone calls and managing correspondence.
- Administering medications as directed by the physician.
- Providing assistance and support to patients during their visit.
- Ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures and exams.
- Keeping exam rooms and work areas clean and organized.
- Collaborating with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Knowledge of common medical procedures, treatments, and medications.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and medical ethics.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage patient schedules, records, and paperwork efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail in maintaining accurate patient information and documentation.
- Competence in taking and recording vital signs accurately, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
- Empathetic listening skills to understand and address patients’ concerns and questions.
- Clear and concise communication of instructions and information to patients regarding treatments, procedures, and medications.
- Ability to establish rapport and build trust with patients from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and staff members.
- Professional demeanor and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and adapt to changing priorities and situations.
- Willingness to learn and update skills to stay current with advancements in medical practices and technologies.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.
- Medical Assistant Certification/ Registration
- A minimum of one year’s experience in a clinical setting
- Must meet pre-employment requirements and maintain all applicable state and job-related guidelines for background screening. Depending on state-specific requirements, this may include drug testing, health screening, CPR/Basic First Aid, and license/credential verifications.
