Legacy Aviation Learning Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is Northern Michigan’s premier aviation maintenance education facility. As one of the newest and most advanced FAA approved part 147, we aim to grow a community of aviation enthusiasts by providing accessible opportunities to attract and educate the next generation of aviation professionals. Located at Cherry Capital Airport and home to the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) Chapter 234 and Civil Air Patrol (CAP), our Aircraft Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) is funded through local educational, governmental partnerships, and independent funding. Our goal is to enroll and graduate 50 students annually, preparing them for a highly technical and lucrative career in aviation maintenance.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior/Lead Instructor located in Traverse City, MI. The Junior/Lead Instructor will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in our Aircraft Maintenance Technician School, developing lesson plans, and conducting practical training sessions. The Instructor will also assist in curriculum development and ensure compliance with FAA regulations. Collaboration with other instructors and staff to create a supportive learning environment is essential.
Qualifications
- Teaching and mentoring skills
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning
- Practical knowledge of aircraft maintenance and repair
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is required
- Ability to work on-site in Traverse City, MI
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Education, or related field is a plus
