Role Description The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Honesdale, PA. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and preparing detailed cost estimates for heavy, highway, utility, and site development projects. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to develop accurate budgets, evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Daily activities include analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and production rates, updating estimate templates, and assisting with bid proposals and documentation. The Estimator also participates in pre-bid meetings, supports value engineering, and ensures estimates align with company standards and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and site development plans and specifications.
- Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for heavy, highway, utility, or site work projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with construction management tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and local market pricing; experience in Northeast Pennsylvania is beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
