Summary/Objective
Reporting to the Director of Campus Life, the Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for the coordination and execution of campus-wide activities, advising student clubs and organizations, and coordinating events and programs with a specific focus on innovation and engagement. The assistant director will develop a comprehensive range of programs and activities based on strategic planning and assessment, available resources, and the mission of the College. The Assistant Director will represent the office on various division-wide committees relating to strategic priorities and work with students, staff, and faculty interested in creating inclusive, engaging, and exciting programs geared toward student-centered activities that enhance campus life at Lees-McRae College.

Essential Functions
- Develops, plans, and executes on- and off- campus, late night and weekend programming for campus-wide student engagement to build student connections with the Lees-McRae community at-large.
- Serves as an on-site decision-maker and supervisor for events.
- Assists with the oversight of the Student Affairs programming calendar to provide students and staff with information on upcoming events.
- Assist in budget management for the Office of Campus Life to ensure effective use of financial resources for programming initiatives.
- Collaborates with all Student Affairs staff, external departments and student organizations to plan and program large-scale events and activities, including event reservation, contract preparation, and on-site decision-making.
- Assists with the planning and execution of New Student Orientation, Campus Compass, and Welcome Week activities.
- Assists with coordination and implementation of Mountain Day of Service, for the campus community by securing more volunteer opportunities and recruiting faculty and staff to volunteer as site leaders and encouraging current students to participate.
- Advise Campus Activities Board in their efforts to plan, implement and assess the effectiveness of student led campus programming.
- Coordinates aspects of student organizations, including policies, event management, fund allocation, and leadership development opportunities.
- Serve as a resource for students regarding campus policies, procedures, and services.
- Assists in planning and implementing a Student Organization Leadership Training, encompassing on-campus workshops, conferences, and other leadership opportunities.
- Assists with training, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating the student work study program in Student Affairs.
- Assists with the management of all student clubs and organizations, accurately tracking information about organization membership, officers, events, and program participation.
- Works collaboratively with all college departments and partners to develop policies and procedures that meet the institution and Campus Life’s needs.
- Assists with virtual and on-demand content related to campus life, both for prospective and current students.
- Works with the Marketing and Communication Department to promote events, activities, and programs while interacting with the campus community to expand opportunities for our students.
- Serve as a member of the Residence Life emergency on-call rotation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and trends in higher education.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Office in a professional environment in addition to indoor and outdoor spaces that support student activities and events.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, live-on, non-exempt hourly position. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and weekends is required. Typical work hours may vary depending on the department’s needs and coverage for programs. This position will work non-traditional hours and will work closely with the Director of Campus Life to build out a work schedule to best cover programming needs and the needs of the Assistant Director of Campus Life.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel
Travel may be occasionally required to assist with recruitment events and to attend regional and national conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Recruiting, management, and extensive knowledge of higher education
- Excellent written and oral communication, well-developed presentation skills, and outstanding customer and quality service skills
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications and social media marketing platforms

- Master’s degree in a related field
