What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker II- Guardianship position at Lee County Government?
General Definition of Work:
This position is primarily responsible for Guardianship and Medicaid Administrative Claiming. Guardianship cases are court-appointed, with the Social Worker conducting visits to monitor client needs and maintaining quarterly and annual reviews. Annual Status Reports on client well-being are submitted to the Clerk of Court. This role includes Medicaid Administrative Claiming activities such as referrals and coordinating services for medical, mental health, and substance abuse needs covered by Medicaid. The Social Worker also serves as case manager for the Special Assistance In-Home program, helping eligible clients remain in their home who qualify for adult care home level of care, and acts as Representative Payee for those needing financial assistance. This position also serves as back-up social worker for Adult Protective Services (APS) initiations and participates in intake rotation, handling APS referrals, information and referrals, and other tasks as assigned. Emergency on-call duty is required for one week at a time, 7 to 8 times per year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices as applied to individual casework, group work, and community problems; understanding of psychosocial, socioeconomic, and behavioral problems and their treatments; familiarity with governmental/private organizations, community resources, and relevant laws, regulations, and policies. In certain settings, general knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and treatments is required. Skilled in building rapport and assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological issues. Able to maintain effective relationships with superiors, clients, families, and civic, medical, social, and religious organizations. Ability to train and instruct lower-level staff, students, or interns. Strong communication, planning, and execution skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited institution; or a bachelor's in a human services field with one year of directly related experience; or a bachelor's in any field with two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employees may be required to respond to natural or man-made disasters, to serve the citizens of Lee County. These duties will take precedence over the duties listed in this job announcement.
