Lee County Library System invites staff to become part of the team at the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library. As a Youth Services Library Associate, you will plan and implement storytimes and other programs in the library and at outreach locations for children, teens, and families. The successful candidate will be imaginative, team-oriented, dedicated, and customer service-driven with a strong commitment to providing excellent library service and will have the ability to relate positively to a diverse population.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
As a Youth Services Library Associate at the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library, you’ll help bring engaging library experiences to young patrons both inside the branch and out in the community.What You’ll Do: Plan and present storytimes, activities, and other library programs for children, teens, and familiesProvide friendly and welcoming customer service to patrons of all agesAssist with reference questions, readers’ advisory, and the use of print and digital resourcesSupport youth collection maintenance, including displays, weeding, and organizationHelp patrons navigate electronic resources, basic technology, and internet useCreate inviting displays that highlight library materialsPrepare purchase requests and basic reports as neededUse standard library equipment, including computers, self-check machines, and photocopiersTo succeed in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity, and flexibility are key—along with a willingness to grow and learn.Spanish language skills are a plus.
