What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer position at Lee County Government?
- Program Leadership: Oversee key engineering programs, including bridge inspections, stormwater pipe lining, and toll bridge major maintenance.
- Team Supervision: Lead and develop engineering and technical staff, providing guidance on technical and policy matters.
- Plan & Permit Review: Review CIP plans, evaluate easement vacation requests, and approve overweight/over-limit permits.
- Contract Management: Prepare bid documents and manage outsourced contracted work for DOT-OPS projects.
- Technical Support: Provide engineering expertise across DOT-OPS divisions and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and agencies.
- Grant Administration: Manage grants and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Emergency Response: Serve as essential staff during county emergencies and support rapid response activities.
- Operational Improvement: Contribute to long-term planning and implement industry best practices to enhance department performance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Experience: 2 years of engineering or closely related experience
- Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license
