What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Attendant, Maintenance Specialist position at Lee County Government?
Do you enjoy hands-on work and take pride in keeping things clean, safe, and running smoothly? Join LeeTran as a Transit Fleet Service Worker! You’ll help maintain our buses and vehicles, support daily operations, and play an important role in keeping our community moving.
What You Will Do
Clean and detail the exterior and interior of buses, vans, cars, and trucks (walls, seats, windows, floors, compartments, and more)
Collect and dispose of garbage
Check and refill important vehicle fluids such as fuel, coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, windshield wiper fluid, and power steering fluid
Keep accurate mileage and fuel records
Maintain inventory of supplies
Perform general labor, maintenance, and custodial tasks using tools and equipment
Identify and report safety issues during inspections
- Operate buses, trolleys, cars, trucks, vans, and forklifts as part of daily service support, including during evening hours
Work together with your team to keep all vehicles safe and ready for service
Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
Six months of maintenance, janitorial, or related experience
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, outdoor environment (in all weather conditions)
- Ability to operate buses, trolleys, cars, trucks, vans, and forklifts, including at night
Able to follow DOT Drug & Alcohol testing requirements (49 CFR Part 40 & Part 655)
Required Licensing
Valid Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake restriction OR
CDL Permit with Passenger Endorsement before hire
Must get a Florida Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire (training and testing provided onsite)
Work Schedule: This is a PM shift. Work hours will be 3:30 PM - 12 AM. Days will vary to include weekends and some holidays.
