Certification Engineer - Entry Level

Position Summary:

Lee Aerospace specializes in designing and manufacturing aerospace products and is a leading manufacturer of aircraft transparencies, including windows and windshields. Lee Aerospace is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Certification team. Certification Engineers work within a project team to support the design and FAA Certification of aerospace transparencies through all stages of product development. In this role, responsibilities include development of certification plans, overseeing testing, and preparing documentation of test plans and reports. Lee Aerospace offers an entry level Certification Engineering position, where individuals with certain skillsets have an opportunity to train under existing Certification Engineers. Individuals for this position are not required to have previous experience related to FAA Certification, rather the ability to learn the role using certain skillsets or experience (discussed below). 

Responsibilities:

• Administrative duties include identifying, collecting, and organizing data to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
• Investigate compliance methods and create clear and concise reports.
• Read and review technical documents and policies and determine how they apply to certification requirements.
• Acquire knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, guidance material, and respective methods for demonstrating compliance.
• Collaborate with team to prepare certification data packages in accordance with the FAA requirements and procedures.
• Review design data to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Coordinate design reviews and respective data approvals with the FAA and/or FAA representatives (DER’s and DAR’s).
• Perform company level inspections of test articles and test setups.
• Coordinate and support laboratory and on-aircraft testing.  
• Manage on-time completion of certification tasks in coordination with Program Management.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• College degree in a related field is preferred, or career work experience in a field lending value to learning this role.

Experience:

• General knowledge of aircraft, the aviation industry, and/or FAA certification procedures are preferred but not required.
• Experience in fields such as aircraft maintenance, pilot, quality inspection, insurance claims adjusting, healthcare documentation, regulatory services, regulation/statute enforcement, technical writing, research, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, material/processing engineering, architecture, and military.
• A field where extensive written instructions or reporting is required.
• A field where rules/regulations are written and enforced.

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
• Exhibit good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to type at least 20 words per minute.
• Technical writing experience is preferred.
• Ability to follow manuals or instructions to complete given tasks.
• Demonstrate strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret and understand design drawings is preferred.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to interpret and apply requirements defined by regulations.
