Project Accountant - Construction

About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our growing construction team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating closely with Project Managers, and takes pride in keeping complex projects financially on track from start to finish.
If you're strong in Procore, confident managing pay applications, and comfortable overseeing the financials for multiple active projects each month, we'd love to meet you. Experience with Sage and prior work with a General Contractor are welcomed and valued, though not required.
What You'll Do
- Manage the full accounting lifecycle for approximately 10-12 active construction projects per month
- Prepare, review, and submit owner pay applications (pay apps) accurately and on time
- Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and forecasts to ensure financial health
- Work closely with Project Managers to provide clear financial insights, job cost reports, and variance analysis
- Process subcontractor billings, lien waivers, and payment compliance documentation
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals and project cost reviews
- Maintain clean, organized project financial records within Procore (and Sage, if applicable)
- Assist with audits, reporting, and special projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Project Accountant in the construction industry
- Strong Procore experience (required)
- Experience preparing and managing pay applications (required)
- Sage experience is a plus
- Prior experience working for a General Contractor is highly desirable
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset-particularly when working with Project Managers
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a sense of ownership over your work
