Position Overview:
The Entry-Level Staff Accountant will support the daily accounting functions of the organization and report directly to a Controller who is not only an experienced CPA but a natural mentor. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and looking to build a long-term career in accounting. This role provides meaningful, hands-on experience with clear paths for advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
Record daily financial transactions and maintain general ledger accuracy
Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reconcile bank, trust, and investment accounts
Assist with monthly close and preparation of financial statements
Support budgeting and internal reporting
Help prepare for annual audits and maintain compliance records
Collaborate with other departments on financial aspects of ongoing programs and projects
Take on additional responsibilities over time as skills develop
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
0-2 years of accounting experience (internships welcome)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to learn
Professionalism and discretion, especially given the sensitivity of the organization's mission
Interest in a long-term role with growth potential and a mentor-led development path
