CNC Lathe Machinist - Production

Reports to: Production Supervisor or General Manager

Pay Rate: $25 - $32 per hour dependent upon experience

Position is full-time with benefits

JOB SUMMARY:

CNC Lathe Machinists work in Ledford’s Production environment and mainly operate two Mazatrol programmed CNC Lathes. Parts are most commonly Aluminum and Brass, but Stainless Steel and Hot-rolled steel may also be seen. Production runs are most commonly 100-500 pcs with rare orders reaching 2000 pcs. Customers expect tightly held tolerances so in-process checks are completed regularly.

Candidates should have schooling and/or experience in CNC Lathe Operation & Machining.

Experience with Lathes is a must – experience with live tooling is preferred but not required.

Experience with Mazak/Mazatrol controllers is strongly preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Critical Responsibilities –

1) Setup, Operate and Maintain the Mazak Machining Centers

2) Measure and evaluate parts as completed to ensure customer requirements are met

Other Duties as needed –

1) Operation of saws and manual mills for very simple operations

2) Package completed parts for shipment to customer

3) Other tasks as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

A CNC Lathe Machinist must be able to:

1) Speak, read & write English fluently

2) Work on their feet for an 8-10 hour shift (excluding breaks)

3) Lift 25 lbs unassisted

4) Operate an overhead crane/hoist safely to lift beyond 25 lbs (training provided)

5) Read and interpret calipers, height gage, bore gage, etc.

6) Remain comfortable working in an industrial environment

7) Set lathe tooling – including live tool

A successful CNC Lathe Machinist is able to:

1) Display some urgency when setting up and running parts

2) Communicate effectively with other staff

3) Work independently following a job board and setup instructions

4) Apply problem-solving skills during job completion

Pay: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
