Director, Provider Recruitment

Leave Your Mark
Chicago, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/6/2026

The Director, Provider Recruitment owns and leads full-cycle recruitment of Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for our client and its partner provider groups, with potential scope expansion to additional licensed and clinical roles as the organization grows. This is a strategic, hands-on individual-contributor role: you will both set the direction for provider recruitment and personally run searches end to end, from sourcing and pipeline development through offer negotiation and onboarding coordination, ensuring an exceptional candidate experience at every stage.

As the senior recruitment leader for provider talent, the Director serves as a strategic partner to clinical and operational leadership — shaping recruitment strategy, employer brand, and workforce-planning priorities that support multi-site growth, patient access, and workforce quality across our client's national footprint as they grow. This position is remote and requires up to 20% travel.

What You Will Do:

Recruitment Strategy & Function Ownership

Own the provider-recruitment function end to end — defining sourcing strategy, search priorities, and hiring plans in partnership with leadership. Advise executives on realistic timelines, market conditions, and competitive compensation positioning. Establish and continuously improve the processes, employer brand, and metrics that make provider recruitment scalable and repeatable.

Full-Cycle Recruitment

Personally manage end-to-end recruitment for Physicians and APPs across all active requisitions. Lead sourcing, screening, interviews, onsite visit coordination, and employment-agreement negotiation. Develop and maintain a strong candidate pipeline to meet current and anticipated hiring needs. Identify candidates who are well-suited not only for the role, but for the practice culture, location, and community. Present qualified candidates to leadership with clear summaries and recommendations.

Sourcing & Outreach

Build and manage a multi-channel sourcing strategy using platforms such as PracticeLink, DocCafe, Doximity, LinkedIn, and internal referrals. Cultivate relationships with residency and fellowship programs to support early-career pipelines. Ensure all outreach reflects our client’s mission, values, and employer brand.

Candidate Experience

Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the process. Provide timely communication, interview preparation, and consistent follow-up. Coordinate and participate in onsite visits, building genuine connections with candidates and their families. Prepare offer documents and employment agreements using company templates, and negotiate effectively to close top candidates. Partner with internal teams on relocation logistics, credentialing, and onboarding.

Stakeholder Partnership

Work closely with clinical leadership, operations, HR, and credentialing teams to align on priorities and search progress. Provide regular updates on pipeline status, market conditions, and candidate feedback. Serve as the trusted advisor to leadership on provider-recruitment strategy across markets.

What You Need:

  • 5 years of recruiting experience, with at least 3 years recruiting physicians and other licensed providers in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Demonstrated success owning provider recruitment strategy — not just filling requisitions — including pipeline planning and stakeholder advisement
  • Proven track record recruiting Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other Advanced Practice Providers
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruiting across multiple simultaneous requisitions
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with candidates, families, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and clinical sourcing platforms (PracticeLink, DocCafe, Doximity)
  • Ability to travel up to 20% across client’s markets as needed

Preferred

  • Experience recruiting in long-term care, skilled nursing, or multi-site medical practices
  • Familiarity with provider credentialing processes and healthcare compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of physician labor-market trends and hiring dynamics
