What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant and Toddler Co-Teacher position at Learning Tree Child Care Center?
For over 50 years, Learning Tree Preschool & Childcare has been serving families in the Portage area, welcoming children from just 6 weeks old up to age 12. We are currently seeking an infant and Toddler co-teacher to join our team right away. Our center is moving toward a 3:1 caregiver-to-infant ratio and a 5:1 caregiver-to toddler ratio, an improvement from the previous 4:1 ratio in our infant room and 6:1 in our toddler room. We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals who value early childhood education and enjoy working collaboratively with others. As an early childhood educator, your role will include planning developmentally appropriate activities, managing vital routines like feeding, sleeping, and hygiene, and fostering a safe, emotionally supportive environment for every child.
Full-time teachers work 9-hour days (including a 1-hour break).
We open at 6:30am and close at 5:00pm.
Duties
- Care & Safety: Providing routine care (diapering, feeding, napping) and ensuring a hygienic, secure environment.
- Developmental Support: Planning activities that build language, motor skills, social-emotional growth, and independence.
- Observation & Responsiveness: Tuning into each child's cues, needs, and interests to offer personalized learning.
- Relationship Building: Fostering trust with infants and forming strong, communicative partnerships with families.
- Curriculum Implementation: Following educational goals and frameworks (like Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards) through play-based learning.
Requirements
Preference is given to candidates with at least 3 college credits, an associate or bachelor’s degree, or those currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education programs. Applicants who have completed training that fulfills the State of Wisconsin's lead teacher requirements will also be considered if they are dedicated to working in early childhood education.
