About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate and treat residents recovering from traumatic brain injuries. In this role, you will design and implement individualized treatment plans targeting speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, pragmatics, and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team, families, and external healthcare providers to promote functional recovery, adaptive communication strategies, and successful discharge outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Direct Care

  • Evaluations & Plans of Care: Conduct comprehensive evaluations—including patient history and standardized measures—to establish individualized plans of care, prognostic goals, and evidence-based treatment strategies.
  • Functional Communication & Speech: Implement direct interventions to improve speech production, voice, pragmatic skills, functional reading, and written communication.
  • Alternative Communication: Develop and train clients on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and adaptive equipment for non-verbal or severely speech-impaired clients.
  • Dysphagia Management: Assess and treat swallowing disorders to restore function and improve client safety during meals.
  • Vocational & Life Skills Support: Conduct task analyses and job-site strategies to help residents pursue vocational or avocational goals.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Education

  • Team Integration: Collaborate with the Rehab Case Manager (RCM), and interdisciplinary team members to establish goals, coordinate treatment plans, and support discharge planning.
  • Staff & Family Training: Educate caregivers, family members, payers, and direct care staff on compensatory strategies and care plan execution.
  • In-Service Training: Plan and present evidence-based in-service sessions to staff and stakeholders as needed.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain service delivery standards in alignment with the ASHA Code of Ethics, State Practice Acts, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), CARF standards, HIPAA regulations, and internal company policy.
  • Timely Reporting: Complete initial assessments, monthly progress reports, daily session notes, and discharge summaries within mandated timeframes.
  • Professional Development: Maintain active state licensure, ASHA certification (CCC-SLP), and complete required continuing education.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) with a minimum of 1 year post-CCC experience; active state SLP licensure.
  • Experience: Experience treating neurologically based physical and cognitive disorders in community-based rehabilitation settings strongly preferred.
  • Operational Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a record of responsible driving and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Healthcare: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
  • Retirement & Security: 401(k) plan and short/long-term disability options.
  • Professional Growth: Tuition Assistance programs and continuing education support.
  • Incentives: Employee Referral Bonus program.
