Pay starts at $11.00 an hour but is negotiable with experience
Duties
- Supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Lead or assist with homework help, tutoring sessions, and educational activities aligned with childhood development standards
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques
- Support teachers by preparing materials, organizing supplies, and setting up activity stations for various programs such as sports, theater, or arts & crafts
- Foster a nurturing environment by implementing age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional growth and early childhood education principles
- Respond promptly to children’s needs, providing first aid when necessary and following safety protocols
- Collaborate with staff to plan special events or themed activities that enhance the overall program experience
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare is highly preferred
- Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or child development are a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments as a floater or substitute teacher
- Passion for working with children and supporting their growth through educational play and structured activities
- Familiarity with early childhood education practices and childhood development milestones
