Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, S corporations, and partnerships.
- Lead tax and accounting engagements for privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations.
- Conduct complex federal and state tax research.
- Prepare written summaries, recommendations, and supporting documentation for clients and firm leadership.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and evaluate their impact on clients.
- Provide year-end tax planning services for individuals and businesses.
- Develop and maintain trusted professional relationships with clients.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned client engagements.
- Review annual trial balances, account reconciliations, and year-end journal entries.
- Identify tax-planning opportunities, compliance concerns, and potential financial risks.
- Manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and developing junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with partners, managers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely client deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- At least five years of current tax experience within a public accounting firm.
- Experience preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state income-tax regulations.
- Experience conducting tax research and documenting technical conclusions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-service skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax-preparation software.
- Ability to build professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and firm leadership.
- Six to ten years of public accounting tax experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent credential.
- Experience with multistate and multi-entity tax matters.
- Experience working with privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations.
- QuickBooks proficiency.
- Experience using CCH tax software.
- Previous experience reviewing staff work or supporting staff development.
