If so, Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) is seeking an Intervention Specialist to join our Student Support Services team and help students in Grades 2-7 thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Why This Role Is Different

As an Intervention Specialist, you'll be a key member of a multidisciplinary team that includes classroom teachers, special educators, school psychologists, social workers, administrators, related service providers, and families.

You'll provide direct support to students who require additional academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions, helping them build the skills necessary to succeed independently within the general education environment whenever possible.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

  • Deliver targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions to students in Grades 2-7.
  • Support students individually and in small groups using evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices.
  • Implement intervention plans and accommodations aligned with student needs and educational goals.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze student progress data to inform instructional decisions and intervention effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and Student Support Services staff to identify barriers to learning and develop appropriate supports.
  • Help students develop executive functioning, self-regulation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Support positive behavior strategies and foster safe, inclusive learning environments.
  • Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings, intervention planning discussions, and family collaboration when appropriate.
  • Prepare instructional materials, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families to promote student engagement, resilience, and success.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, completion of at least 60 college credits, or Bachelor's degree required; or High School Diploma with ParaPro certification.
  • Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferred.
  • Experience supporting students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or executive functioning needs preferred.
  • Knowledge of intervention strategies, behavior supports, and data collection practices preferred.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to successfully complete required de-escalation and restraint training.
