Anticipated Opening - School Social Worker - 2026-2027 School Year

LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, invites candidates to apply for an anticipated School Social Worker opening across our magnet schools and outplacement programs for the 2026-2027 school year.

Day to Day

• Facilitate small social skills groups to support student development.
• Provide individual and group counseling services aligned with IEP goals and objectives.
• Consult and collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and school staff to support student success.
• Complete assessments as appropriate to inform interventions and supports.
• Partner with families, caregivers, and outside agencies to ensure students have access to necessary services.
• Participate in building-wide initiatives promoting positive behavioral approaches.
• Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) through Tier 1 instruction and provide MTSS supports and services.
• Support school-wide and individualized behavioral systems, including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  
  

Qualifications

• Proper school social worker certification required.
• Previous experience working with young children in a school, hospital, or clinic setting required.
• Experience creating and implementing IEPs preferred.
• Familiarity with school-based social-emotional supports, cognitive behavioral therapy, and MTSS frameworks preferred.
