This role is crucial in shaping the center's artistic identity, fostering community engagement, and ensuring its long-term sustainability.District
The Director will be a dynamic and resourceful leader, passionate about the visual arts and committed to fostering artistic expression and cultural enrichment of Puerto Rican art and culture. They will be responsible for developing and executing the center's strategic plan, cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, and overseeing all aspects of the center's operations, including exhibitions, education programs, fundraising, and financial management.
II. Key Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master's preferred. Candidates should have at least 5-7 years of leadership experience in a similar institution, demonstrating experience in strategic planning, program development, fundraising, and financial management. Knowledge of art history in Puerto Rico and the surrounding regions is highly desirable. Essential skills include strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities, along with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Experience with diverse populations is preferred. Fluency in Spanish and English is highly desirable. A commitment to the center's mission and proficiency in financial management are necessary. Experience with technical production and installation is a plus, as is adaptability.
REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Strategic Leadership & Vision
The Director is responsible for leading fundraising efforts and managing the center's finances. This involves working with stakeholders to identify donors and partners, developing and managing budgets, and reporting financial performance.
D. Staff Leadership & Development
Leading and mentoring teachers and staff, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance evaluations are also key responsibilities.
E. Board Relations & Governance
Maintaining a strong relationship with the Board of Trustees and supporting them in resource mobilization is crucial for governance.
F. Community Engagement & Outreach
The role requires cultivating connections with the local arts community and delivering programs for various audiences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month contracted position. Salary, hours and work year to be determined by Board in consultation with Lead Person.
EVALUATIONS: Annually according to state statute and rule and Board policy.
SALARY: $52,510 - $80,710)
