- Provide attentive, warm, and developmentally appropriate care to children ages infant–school age.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment.
- Ensure children are supervised at all times and follow all safety, health, and licensing guidelines.
- Assist children with daily routines including meals, toileting, rest, and transitions.
- Support teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play, exploration, and creativity.
- Promote positive social interactions and help children build self-regulation and cooperative play skills.
- Follow daily schedules and classroom routines to ensure consistency and structure.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.
- Communicate daily with parents/guardians regarding child activities, needs, and progress.
- Support LEAP’s culture of family engagement and community partnership.
- Follow all LEAP Academy, state, and federal policies related to childcare, safety, and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Participate in required trainings, professional development, and staff meetings.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children (infant–school age) in a childcare or educational setting.
- Ability to obtain or maintain required childcare clearances (fingerprinting, background check, TB test, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to child development.
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or college coursework in Early Childhood Education.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience in an urban or charter school environment.
- Warm, nurturing, patient demeanor.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask and respond calmly to changing situations.
- Commitment to LEAP’s mission of providing high-quality care and education to the Camden community.
- Classroom and childcare center settings.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs, and floor work with children.
- Schedule may include early morning or late afternoon hours depending on program needs.
