Lead Full Stack Developer (W2 only)

Location: Blue Ash, OH ( Hybrid)

Duration: 12-month contract-to-hire

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Developer to support a team focused on delivering technology solutions that improve the freshness of fresh foods from farm to customer. This team supports produce today and may expand into other fresh categories over time.

In this role, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for a modern web-based platform that serves as the enterprise repository and system of record for fresh quality specifications. You will lead both backend services development and front-end development, helping deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support business users, inspectors in the field, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack development across React front end and Java/Spring Boot backend services.
• Design, build, and evolve RESTful APIs that support web and Android-based inspection applications.
• Create scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with engineering standards.
• Establish best practices for API design, service resilience, data access, testing, documentation, and release readiness.
• Build and maintain a high-quality React codebase with strong component architecture and performance-minded patterns.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance to raise team standards.
• Partner with product leadership to plan, estimate, and sequence work effectively.
• Collaborate with architects and technical leads on design direction and shared platform standards.
• Maintain technical documentation and design artifacts.
• Identify opportunities to improve the technology environment and recommend solutions.
• Support application operations and participate in an on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications

• 8 years of professional software development experience with strong hands-on coding responsibility, including Java.
• 7 years of experience developing RESTful APIs.
• 5 years of experience designing, building, releasing, and evolving APIs in production.
• 5 years of experience building modern web applications with React.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem, including REST, persistence, integrations, dependency injection, AOP, and security fundamentals.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with both SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• 4 years of experience with CI/CD and automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Strong working knowledge of Git and Git-based workflows.
• Experience building services on Microsoft Azure or an equivalent cloud platform.
• Experience with Docker or similar container technologies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent Azure experience, including architecture, deployment, and monitoring.
• Experience modernizing or improving the reliability and operability of a production application.
• Understanding of security and network architecture concepts, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Proven track record as a technical lead across both UI and services, with hands-on delivery and mentorship.
