Handy-person Job
Looking for a home improvement companion and maybe even a mentor. I have an older timberframe home on some land that I have been slowly renovating over the last 10 years. Seeking someone who is comfortable with power tools, basic carpentry, yard work, and gardening. I don't need a master craftsmen but I do need someone who loves this sort of work and has the experience and skills needed to take a building idea, into a design plan, and then build it
There will be lots of puttering around the house and yard and I need someone to help me stay on task and get some much needed projects done. Bonus if you are good at designing a shed or sauna, or know how to install trim, build cabinets, and repair roofs. The schedule is flexible with up to 21 hours a week depend on our projects at $24-29hr.
We are currently completing a bathroom and kitchen install. Our spring projects include a screened in porch, maybe designing a greenhouse or a sauna out of a run down shed, maybe a shipping container storage/workshop, pressure washing and staining the new siding, designing, building & planting raised beds, building & installing shelves, preparing for a contractor to install French drains, finishing a floating deck, landscaping around my home, and several other projects to make this home more accessible and functional for me as I age.
Looking for someone with a positive attitude, a mind for managing and visualizing projects and the ability to get things done.
Special Considerations
I am allergic to fragrances and require someone that does not use any scented products. My elderly father that has Alzheimer's lives with me and we ask for extra precaution around illness due to his Alzheimer's and COPD. Masks are required when employees have symptoms, recent exposure or close contact with individuals that are sick. I have autism and adhd so I have a low capacity for social interactions and my sensory needs vary. I usually prefer to work without lots of talking or music because it is hard for me to focus and stay on task. But I am fine if you want to wear headphones and listen to things while you work. We have dogs and a cat.
This position is state funded and requires references and a background check. I use a fiscal agency to manage payroll and workers comp. Overtime, vacation, sick time, or insurance is not covered by the funding. I live in the Cornish Maine area.
Pay: $ $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 21.0 per week
