The Fraud and Recovery Unit serves as the investigative arm of the SNAP Fraud & Recovery, protecting the integrity of public assistance programs across the state. Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in social services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in social services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in social services; OR
A bachelor’s degree in social work or a master's degree in a social services field or education.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Investigates suspected fraudulent procurement of public assistance benefits, including bogus, duplicate, and multi-state recipient cases
- Conducts internal investigations into employee misconduct and violations of agency, departmental, and Civil Service policies (e.g., theft, fraud, forgery, payroll violations)
- Collaborates with parish offices, state leadership, and state and federal prosecutors, as well as law enforcement partners such as State Police and federal oversight agencies
- Utilizes investigative tools and systems (e.g., case management systems, data analytics, and online databases) to research records and develop actionable leads
- Performs surveillance, interviews witnesses, interrogates suspects, and secures legal documentation such as affidavits, warrants, and court orders
- Prepares detailed investigative and financial loss reports to support criminal prosecution, civil litigation, administrative actions, and benefit recovery efforts
- Serves as agency liaison and testifies in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings, including fraud hearings and Civil Service appeals, while facilitating repayment and disqualification actions
Position-Specific Details:
Fraud Investigator 1 - $21.27 hr / $1701.60 bi-weekly
Fraud Investigator 2 - $22.76 hr / $1,820.80 bi-weekly
