What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist I (On Site) position at LCRA?

At LCRA, we are searching for a Safety Professional who wants to be an essential part of a team and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of fellow Texans. The Generation Safety Team is looking for their next teammate who is ready to contribute to our growing team and provide a full range of safety and health support at an industrial power generation site. We have an outstanding opening for a Utility Safety Specialist that understands how to positively engage with all levels of employees at our site in Marble Falls, Texas. As our Safety Team grows, our ideal candidate will have the opportunity to apply new industry best practices and provide meaningful input regarding programs and policies. You Will Be Trusted To

  • Provide safety consultation and serve as a safety and health resource for LCRA staff in Generation.
  • Assist with incident investigations, tracking, and reporting.
  • Schedule and assist with conducting safety orientations, safety training, health training and monthly / quarterly safety meetings.
  • Assist with safety and health inspections and audits.
  • Participate in the research, development, and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist staff with project support related to health and safety issues. Prepare health and safety plans for LCRA projects.
  • May coordinate medical monitoring activities and schedule employees for testing.
  • Provide daily on-site safety support with a strong interpersonal skills to engage with people.
  • Travel to other sites occasionally to engage with partners and support other Generation operations.

You Qualify With

  • Four or more years of experience in safety and health, utility safety to include water, gas

operations, energy generation, electric utility transmission and distribution operations or other relevant experience. Experience must include one year of direct safety team experience within an organization to include experience with administration, oversight or applying work safety practices, policies and procedures. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, occupational safety and health, public health or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

  • Driver’s license

You Are a Great Fit With

  • Prior experience in a utility or energy sector environment
  • A degree in Occupational Safety & Health or similar.
  • Certification in the field of Safety & Health such as the ASP or OHST.
  • Experience in at least one of the following fields: power generation, oil & gas, chemical processing, or manufacturing.
