Job Summary The Laser Technician at LCI Paper is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CO₂ Gantry and CO₂ Galvo laser-cutting equipment used in the production of custom paper goods. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects from file review through final production. The Laser Technician ensures that all laser-cutting activities are performed safely, efficiently, and profitably while delivering high-quality results for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer orders and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Inspect and prepare PDF files; perform test cuts on CO₂ Gantry and CO₂ Galvo lasers to ensure optimal quality.
- Communicate with customers via email to provide proofs, answer questions, and confirm details.
- Schedule and prioritize laser-cutting jobs to meet production deadlines.
- Operate CO₂ Gantry and CO₂ Galvo laser equipment safely and efficiently throughout the workday.
- Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) in a production environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in laser operation, digital production, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail—able to spot color variations, alignment issues, text errors, and omissions.
- Strong communication skills, including professional email and phone interactions.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in measurements, including addition and subtraction of fractions, to ensure precise finished products.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- Ability to complete and pass the online Laser Safety Certification exam.
Software Proficiency
- Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop
- Microsoft Word and Excel
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
