What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) position at Cataract & Laser Center?
General Essential Functions:
Ø Following physician orders
Ø Assessment of physical/mental function of the patient
Ø Providing instructions to the patient
Ø Verifying IOLs
Ø Assisting anesthesia providers with patient care
Ø Fostering a safe environment for patients, staff and surgeons
Responsibilities:
Ø Assessment and documentation of patients (physical/mental status, vital signs, medication use)
Ø Verifying all patient information is correct in the patient chart
Ø Administering of ordered medication
Ø Competency in intravenous access
Ø Meticulously documenting all aspects of patient care
Ø Participating in a Time Out when appropriate
Ø Understanding and competently performing the specific responsibilities and needs of each nursing area
Ø Providing BLS if necessary; participating in a code when necessary if ACLS certified
Ø Stocking each area as needed/putting stock away if necessary
Ø Participate in training and in-services
Ø Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching as well as lifting and supporting patients.
