The Manufacturing Engineering Intern Position offers candidates an opportunity to work, contribute, and apply academic skills in a corporate setting with industry professionals.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify area(s) for improvement.
- Determine problem resolutions and work with management to implement improvements.
- Support process optimization initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality
- Collaborate with production on continuous improvement projects and 5S standards for production.
- Participate in time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning
- Assist with root cause analyses using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Pareto charts
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues
- Participate in shop floor operations and recommend improvements
- Help evaluate and improve tooling, fixtures, and equipment layout
- Learn and apply engineering principles in a real-world environment
- Gain exposure to manufacturing systems, ERP/MES tools, and CAD software
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Minimum Experience, Education, etc.:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 weeks
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization principles
