The Quantitative Equity group at Lazard Asset Management is looking for a Quantitative Developer to strengthen and evolve the software that powers our research and production investment workflows. You’ll work closely with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to build reusable Python libraries and internal tools and modernize research code so it can be produced reliably. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and quantitative investing—ideal for someone who is an excellent developer and is motivated to deepen their understanding of quant and investment concepts over time.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $120,000 - $190,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.

We’ll trust you to:
- Build and maintain Python libraries and research tooling that accelerate quantitative research and analytics.
- Productionize research code into robust, monitored pipelines used in a live alpha and rebalancing workflow.
- Design and improve simulation and back-testing infrastructure to enable fast iteration from ideas to production.
- Build and maintain high-performance data, factor, and signal pipelines with a focus on correctness, reliability, and scalability.
- Migrate and modernize factor workflows improving maintainability and performance.
- Develop internal reporting and workflow tools that improve researcher and portfolio manager productivity.
- Write secure, high-quality production code; participate in reviews; debug and improve existing systems.
- Contribute to operational excellence: reduce recurring incidents, improve observability, and support production.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–7 years of experience building production software for quantitative research, trading, or data-intensive systems.
- Strong programming skills and software engineering fundamentals - we use Python.
- Comfort debugging production systems; pragmatic approach to reliability, testing, and performance.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; effective in small, close-knit teams.
- High ownership: able to take loosely defined goals and deliver tested, maintainable solutions.
- Experience with the Python scientific stack (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and building reusable libraries.
- Strong SQL skills; experience working with modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
- Experience with cloud platforms (we use Azure).
- Familiarity with containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Interest in, or working knowledge of, investment and quantitative concepts—and willingness to learn the domain deeply.
