Role Description The Director of Finance is a full-time, on-site role based in New Haven, CT, responsible for leading all financial operations for Laydon Industries, LLC. This position oversees budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial planning to support strategic business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing financial statements, managing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Director of Finance will collaborate with senior leadership to evaluate project profitability, monitor key performance indicators, and provide data-driven recommendations. A primary function of this role is to establish and implement job costing structure and controls, establish monthly processes for Project Managers and Superintendents, and deliver accurate labor-to-job reports and WIP analyses.
Qualifications
- Understanding of construction processes, regulations and project management.
- Strong knowledge and focus on the job costing process.
- Strong finance and financial planning skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial strategy.
- Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and interpreting financial statements and financial reporting.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to assess financial performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
- Experience in corporate finance, preferably within construction, engineering, or related industries.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA or MBA is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work on-site in New Haven, CT and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
