Intake Worker
An intake worker at the Lawton Food Bank (LFB) will assist families through the intake processes with compassion and efficiency. This person will be responsible for welcoming clients, completing check-ins and new client intake forms, building client relationships, offering referrals of local resources when appropriate, and updating daily/monthly reports. Must be able to handle difficult clients and emergency situations calmly. Must have attention to detail and be willing to help with other departments as needed. The intake worker will serve as a representative of the LFB through interactions with clients and donors, in person or on the phone. Must manage The Emergency Federal Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Commodity Supplemental Food Program
(CSFP) in accordance with federal guidelines.
This position is Monday through Friday. Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00pm - 6:00pm. Pay starts at $12/hr, with an increase to $14 after the 90 day probation period.
Responsibilities:
- Client intake process, such as signing clients up and checking them in using our Link2Feed software
- Verify client eligibility and complete necessary documentation for food assistance programs, adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Answer phones
- Communicate efficiently with clients, staff, and partners
- Answer questions about the programs
- Updating daily and monthly reports
- Enter and organize data and files
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and other professional development opportunities as required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping
- Experience with customer service
- Experience with working or volunteering at similar non-profit organizations
- Familiarity with local programs and organizations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds with respect and empathy
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
