SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITATOR
*POSITION RECEIVES AN ANNUAL $1,800 SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES STIPEND*
Required:
- Eligible for or possesses Kansas Special Education Licensure;
- Graduate degree in Special Education or Related Field;
- Minimum of Five years of experience in special education;
- Experience and proficiency in State and Federal Regulations, Statues and Procedures

Job Goal:
The goal of the Special Education Facilitator is to promote and support professional adherence to the legal requirements of state and federal regulations; to protect the procedural safeguards of students and their parents; to provide technical assistance to teachers and administrators regarding special education issues and concerns; and to assist with communication regarding special education topics. The Facilitator understands state standards and promotes evidence-based practices in the Least Restrictive Environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support to promote appropriate specially designed instruction and related services within the context of LRE.
- Provide feedback and training for staff related to IEP development and implementation.
- Provide specialized professional development to staff related to providing evidenced based practice.
- Collaborate with staff to assess and address student needs.
- Consult with special education teams and principals on issues related to special education law and procedures and special education programming.
- Collaborate with Special Education administrative staff regarding system-wide and targeted professional development needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of Special Education procedures and regulations.
- Proficient in facilitating groups.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to possess and maintain appropriate licensure or certification in the state of Kansas.
- Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and concise manner, and possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers.
- Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide a prompt response or determine next steps.
- Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment.
- Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
- Ability to travel as needed.
The tasks listed in this position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent. The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
Length of Contract: Certified contract plus 10 additional days
Salary Range: Certified salary schedule; additional days at the contract daily rate
Salary : $51,000 - $82,942
