Compensation: Starts at $25.01/hour
Location: Lawrence, KS
Shifts Available: First Shift (5:00 AM – 2:00 PM), Second Shift (2:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Machine Operator to join our Finishing team. As a Machine Operator, you are responsible for physical work, including feeding machines, stacking units, and learning to operate machines that grind and bale corrugated paper. This position is required to operate a forklift.
Responsibilities
- Make neat bales.
- Operate hogger to hog up all unusable paper and corrugated scrap.
- Hand tie wax bale wires.
- Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
- Maintain accurate bale reports.
- Maintain inventories of bailing wire, wax tags, no wax tags, and scrap bales.
- Operate a forklift in a safe manner when necessary.
- Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
- Be proactive with maintenance of equipment.
Qualifications
- At least one year of prior forklift experience required.
- Safety and quality focused.
- Must be dependable.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with little supervision required.
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot.
- Experienced in manufacturing, specifically in operating machinery, required.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Must be able to use simple math and use basic handheld measuring tools.
