What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHEP Coordinator/Marketing and Outreach position at Lawrence County Health Department?
Position Description: The Emergency Preparedness Specialist actively participates in the coordination of LCHD and community efforts for preparedness planning and system development activities for response to acts of natural/man-made disasters, public health threats, and emergencies. This position also ensures collaboration to develop LCHD-wide capacity to respond to such acts.
Essential functions of this position are:
PHEP Coordinator:
· Participates in the development of plans and systems that include all the partners in the local public health jurisdiction
· Assists in development of public health emergency response plans for LCHD that are fully integrated with other local government plans within the LCHD jurisdiction
· Assists in the development and implementation of simulation exercises to ensure the effectiveness of the emergency plans and systems for the district
· Follow all safety and compliance rules and participate in all required safety and compliance tests and/or trainings
· Implements safety checks for the main building as directed
· Act as a positive role model within the community
· Other duties as assigned
Marketing/Outreach:
· Assists the Director of Marketing with development of LCHD promotional material
· Utilizes software to create flyers, brochures and pamphlets for LCHD events and programs
· Works closely with department supervisors and directors to identify marketing needs
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related field, preferred
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to quickly grasp new ideas and new approaches
Physical Requirements:
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
Employee must be able to remain stationary for periods of time to complete documentation while at a desk
Ability to operate required computer equipment and software
Ability to stand or squat for long periods of time
Ability to occasionally move up to 50 lbs.
Must have the ability to professionally communicate with patients, staff, administration, board, stakeholders, and other parties in a professional manner.
