We are seeking a professional, dependable, and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a friendly, team-oriented environment. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist serves as the first point of contact for our patients, referral sources, and visitors. As an Insurance Verification Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely access to prosthetic and orthotic services by verifying insurance benefits and securing necessary authorizations. The Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist reports directly to the Patient Accounts Supervisor and plays a vital role in ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8- 4:30 pm
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage information.
- Obtain prior authorizations for prosthetic and orthotic services.
- Contact insurance companies to confirm coverage, authorization requirements, and claim status.
- Collaborate with clinicians, patient service staff, and billing teams to resolve insurance-related issues.
- Accurately document insurance verification and authorization information within company systems.
- Monitor and follow up on pending authorizations to minimize delays in patient care.
- Maintain knowledge of payer policies and documentation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, payer guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, medical billing, or healthcare reimbursement.
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Commercial insurance plans.
- Understanding of HCPCS coding, ICD-10 coding, and payer allowable guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with medical billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
