Duties
- Assist attorneys with case preparation by conducting legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal databases.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with clients.
- Manage case files using document management systems such as Clio; ensure all files are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support litigation processes through document review, filing court documents electronically or physically, and maintaining organized case records.
- Conduct brief interviews with clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for ongoing cases.
- Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion while supporting attorneys in managing sensitive client data.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and providing executive administrative support.
- Assist in procedural law compliance by researching jurisdiction-specific rules and court procedures across multiple practice areas.
- Support project management efforts by coordinating deadlines, tracking case progress, and preparing reports for review.
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and clarity; transcribe dictations as needed to ensure precise record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with clients via phone or email to provide updates or gather additional information while maintaining professional etiquette.
Experience
- Prior experience as a paralegal or legal support professional is preferred.
- Familiarity with litigation processes is essential.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis is required to efficiently support case development.
- Experience utilizing document management systems like Clio to organize case files effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for drafting documents and managing schedules.
- Previous clerical or administrative experience supporting attorneys or legal teams enhances success in this role.
