Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Probate Paralegal who takes pride in producing careful, precise work and who consistently follows established procedures and instructions.
This is an in-office position in Columbus, Ohio.
The paralegal will assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, conduct research, and provide support in estate planning, probate, and trust administration. The role involves communicating with clients to gather information, managing case files, and maintaining timely and accurate documentation. The paralegal will work closely with attorneys to ensure that client matters are handled efficiently and with the utmost care.
This role is not a good fit for someone who prefers a loosely structured environment or who struggles with attention to detail. It is ideal for someone who values organization, clear processes, and producing high-quality work.
Core Responsibilities
- Draft estate planning documents from established templates
- Prepare probate pleadings and court filings
- Assist with probate and trust administration matters from opening to closing
- Prepare asset transfer documents and beneficiary forms
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and fiduciaries
- Track deadlines and maintain accurate matter status updates
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files
- Carefully review documents for accuracy before submission
- Follow firm procedures and checklists
Qualifications
- Experience in Law and knowledge of estate planning, probate, and trust administration
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation and Document Review
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
- Proven ability to perform thorough Research and analyze legal documents
- Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
- Proficiency with legal software and familiarity with case management systems is a plus
- Prior experience in estate planning, probate, or a similar legal field is highly desirable
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field is preferred
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of probate or estate planning paralegal experience
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong proofreading ability
- Ability to follow written procedures and instructions precisely
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
