Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with all aspects of family law cases, including drafting pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence
- Manage case files using legal case management systems and document management platforms such as iManage
- Conduct legal research on family law statutes, regulations, and relevant case law using Westlaw and LexisNexis
- Review and organize legal documents, contracts, and evidence for accuracy and completeness
- Interview clients to gather case information and prepare detailed summaries for attorneys
- Maintain meticulous records of case activities, court deadlines, and client communications
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing documents with courts, and managing calendars
- Prepare reports and summaries to assist attorneys during litigation or settlement negotiations
- Ensure compliance with court procedures and legal standards across all case activities
- Utilize legal software like PCLaw for billing and time tracking to support efficient case management
Qualifications
- Proven paralegal experience with a focus on family law or related practice areas such as estate planning or tribal law & regulations
- Strong knowledge of family law procedures, court rules, and legal documentation standards
- Proficiency in legal research tools including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and iManage
- Experience with legal case management systems such as Clio or PCLaw is highly desirable
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear legal documents and correspondence
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Effective interviewing skills to obtain detailed client information accurately
- Familiarity with document review, proofreading, transcription, and data entry processes
- Strong clerical experience including filing, phone etiquette, and administrative support functions
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
