Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Portuguese speaking Immigration Attorney with a focus on removal defense to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience representing clients in Immigration Court and must be fluent in Portuguese (Spanish is a plus). This role involves daily client communication, preparation and representation in removal proceedings, and occasional in-person hearings as required. The attorney will manage a caseload, conduct legal research, and provide strong advocacy and client service in complex immigration matters.
Duties
- Represent clients in removal defense proceedings before Immigration Court, including master calendar and individual hearings.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using legal tools and databases.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents including motions, briefs, asylum applications, cancellation of removal applications, and related pleadings.
- Prepare clients for immigration court testimony and hearings.
- Negotiate and advocate on behalf of clients in immigration proceedings and with government counsel where applicable.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients regarding their immigration status, rights, and options for relief.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration law, regulations, and case law affecting removal defense matters.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff within the law office to ensure effective case management and timely filings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to a state bar and active license to practice law (from any U.S. state).
- At least one year of experience in removal defense.
- Experience handling asylum, cancellation of removal, or other forms of relief in Immigration Court strongly preferred.
- Strong skills in legal writing and drafting.
- Fluent in Portuguese required; Spanish is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
