Law Enforcement Psychological Services, Inc. (LEPS) is the largest provider of psychological screening services for police and public safety agencies in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Our firm has provided psychological screening services to dozens of agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as a number of large departments across the country. LEPS provides a critical service to our community by striving to ensure that only suitable individuals are allowed to take on the responsibilities of a police or other public safety officer.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a psychologist to work with our firm as staff psychologist to provide psychological assessment services to our client agencies at our Los Gatos, CA office as well as virtual assessment services to our clients in other states. This psychologist will conduct psychological assessments using LEPS’s standard assessment battery and face-to-face interviews to formulate suitability recommendations and reports for LEPS’s client agencies. This psychologist will also manage client relationships and attend client hiring meetings in which applicant suitability issues and assessment results are presented to department hiring authorities when necessary.
Qualifications
The staff psychologist will be required to be licensed in California and have at least 2 years of post-licensure work in assessment. Completion of the CA POST test will be required prior to the start of employment. Upon beginning employment, the staff psychologist will be encouraged to obtain licensure in additional states including at least Alaska, Washington, Illinois, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required. The staff psychologist will frequently interact with clients and will be the main point of contact for our client relationships.
Prior experience in the field of law enforcement psychology is not required. Training and supervision will be provided by LEPS’s psychologists on the specific test battery and assessment criteria.
